She Fed Her Puppies While Her Body Was Failing

 

A mother left behind with six tiny lives

They were found in a forgotten place.

A wounded mother dog lay on the ground, surrounded by six small puppies.
Her legs were wrapped in old bandages, her body weak, her eyes full of pain.

She had been left there on purpose.

People walked past.
Cars drove by.
No one stopped.

Even when the mother cried.

Even when the puppies were hungry.

Even when she kept nursing them despite her own suffering.

She was not asking for herself.
She was begging for her babies.

A body full of pain no one could see

When she was finally taken to the clinic, the truth was devastating.

Her legs and tail were badly infected.
But worse than that…

Three bullets were found in her spine.

Her back had been shot.

Fragments of metal had damaged her spinal cord.
The doctors couldn’t believe she was still alive.

They asked the same question over and over:
“How did she survive this many days?”

Even with her skin worn raw and her body exhausted,
her spirit refused to give up.

She had stayed alive… for her puppies.

When love becomes stronger than pain

Despite everything that had been done to her,
Eva — as we named her — never became bitter.

She smiled.

She wagged her tail.

She made new friends.

How could a dog who suffered so much still be so gentle?

We didn’t understand it at first.
But then we realized…

She had chosen love over anger.

A new life in a wheelchair

Eva would never walk again.

The bullets had damaged her spine permanently.

So we bought her a wheelchair.

And she loved it.

She raced around.
She explored.
She played.

For the first time, she was moving freely — not with legs, but with joy.

A long road of healing

Her battle wasn’t over.

Even with medicine, she kept chewing her injured legs.
Bandages. Cones. Wraps.
Nothing could stop the itching and pain.

The wounds healed slowly.

Then she needed surgery again.

After that, she felt better — and immediately wanted to go outside and play.

Life kept testing her.

Vomiting.
Diarrhea.
She stopped eating.

We rushed her to the vet in fear.

Her intestines had failed.

But once again…

She survived.

A mother who refused to disappear

Eva lost so much.

Her legs.
Her health.
Her old life.

But she never lost her heart.

Her puppies were adopted by loving families.
They send us videos of their new lives.

And Eva?

She lives on.

In her wheelchair.
With her smile.
With her unbreakable spirit.

She was shot.
She was abandoned.
She was broken.

But she never stopped being a mother.
And she never stopped choosing to live. 🐾
